Famelab is a speaking competition for those who like their science talks short and sharp. You only get get 3 minutes to convey something interesting to the audience. Props are allowed but PowerPoint is banned. Having been an audience member in the first ever competition, back in 2005, I decided in 2014 to give it a go and enter. The judges look for the famous 3 C’s – content, clarity and charisma. For the Nationals my talk described how a cup of tea stirred up science. The whole experience was brilliant, I met wonderful people and still can’t quite believe I won the 2014 UK final!
